Truly offering something for everyone, the Sarasota Clay Company is ready to spark your curiosity and ignite your passion for clay. Spacious high ceilings adorn this light filled workshop offering classes for any newcomer, novice, or notable creator with an interest in ceramic art.

  • Weekly sessions offer Date Nights, Kids and Clay, and Saturday Wheel Throwing.

  • 4 week sessions meet once a week with rolling admittance.

  • Workshops are hosted by local, regional, national, and international artists.

  • The studio offers cone 5 and Raku firing options for students and members.

  • Open studio hours are available throughout the week.

Date Nights!

Tired of the same old Friday night routine? Switch up your weekly routine with a date at the pottery studio! Add some variety to your schedule with our Friday Date Nights (6pm-7:30pm est.)! Perfect for couples, first dates, or friend dates; join other fun and interesting members of your community in a ceramic social hour where you will have the opportunity to make your very own pieces of ceramic art. At the end of your class you will choose from 5 glazes how you'd like your piece(s) to be glazed. We will fire and glaze your pieces for you. Your pottery will be ready to pick up in 2 weeks from the date night.

What to bring:

  • Apron/towel

  • Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty

  • Light Snacks and Beverages*

Sculptural Handbuilding

Learn a variety of Handbuilding/Sculpting Techniques. Grow your skills by going outside your comfort zone or refine your craft in our Sculptural Hand Building class! From figure sculpting, to abstract, to functional slump molding and coil building, no style of clay sculpting is off limits at Sarasota Clay Company. Learn the art of shaping clay into beautiful works of art guided by our experienced instructors. No prior experience required, just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn!

What to bring:

  • Apron/towel

  • Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty

  • Beginner tool set (available for purchase at the studio)

  • Shower caddy to hold your tools

  • Notebook/sketchbook/pen or pencil

  • Water bottle

Intermediate Wheel Throwing

This class is designed for makers and artists who have already completed the beginner class and have mastered the basic fundamentals necessary to take their work to the next level (readiness and skill level needed to take advanced class will be determined by the instructor prior to the class date). During the four week course, students will have full freedom to develop their personal body of work. Students are given the chance to communicate and achieve their goals in creating traditional or uniquely altered vessels through various methods of working with the help of by highly experienced instructors.
